ECHA Board Meeting
August 23, 2012 at Bladez on Ice, Yellow Party Room, 6pm
In attendance: Tony Davis, President; Jim Chrisman, Vice President; Leslie Bunch, Treasurer; Stephanie
Yost, Fundraising Director; Scott Bragdon, Hockey Director (non-voting); Chris Stansbury,
Marketing Director (arrived at 6:48).
Meeting called to order by Tony at 6:01pm.
Hockey Director update, Scott:
· Prep: 1

session (brush-up for past Prep kids) begins 9/16 for 6 weeks. 40 kids max. 1 hour of
ice per week (1hour x 6 weeks x $275 = $1650 our cost). Players charged $150 for 1
st
Prep
session; breakeven point is 11 kids. Coaches will be Scott & ECU players (volunteers). Prep
program will take 1-2 weeks off & start back with 2
nd
session on 11/11, immediately following
TH4F. 1.5 hours of ice per week (1.5 hours x 6 weeks x $275 = $2475 our cost). Players charged
$200 for each of the 2

& 4

Prep sessions; breakeven point is 12.38 kids per session.
· House: Begins 11/11 for 6 weeks (coincide with 2
nd
Prep session). Geared towards past Prep
kids & any kids not in travel; ages 5-10. Anticipate 2 teams. Total ice purchased each Sunday
afternoon is 3 hours (3 hours x 6 weeks x $275 = 4590 our cost). Players charged $225. Consists
of a practice time followed by games; full ice games. Teams will be a mix of Mite & Squirts
(maybe a couple of PW). Coaches will be volunteer parents. Intent of our house program is the
“step” into travel – look & feel like travel at a home level. Sponsors will be obtained to provide
players with jerseys & socks.
· Travel: Scott will be on the ice observing at practices for both teams. Practices begin 9/11 for
Bantams & run every Tuesday & Thursday from 7-8pm; begin 9/13 for Squirts & run every
Thursday in September from 6-7pm & after September, every Tuesday & Thursday from 6-7pm.
Practices end once the CHL season is over.
· Prep Equipment: We will still offer the equipment package for $175, larger equipment extra.
Scott will check with his contact(s) to see if a better package deal can be obtained. Stephanie
Yost volunteered to help admin Prep & train a couple of past Prep parents to admin as well.
Coaches update, Jim:
· Coaching certification classes are limited (see attached list). New coaches need to register as
soon as possible.
· ECHA will advertise to Prep parents for volunteer coaches. Instructed to contact Jim, who will
forward to Scott. ECHA will cover the costs involved in becoming certified, but will not make
this public knowledge (will be provided to the parent once the parent has stepped up to
volunteer).
CHL & CAHA update, Tony:
· Richmond removed from CHL for no-shows last season.
· Squirts are going to no travel eventually (coming from USAH). No date set as of yet, just
discussion.
· Current Squirt season cannot start before 11/1 (we host 11/18).
· ECHA is signed up for the 2x2 challenge. See document here.
· Girls TH4F day (Pink at the Rink) is scheduled for 10/21.
Jamboree/Mite Fright update, Tony:
· CAHA grant was NOT awarded. May have to cancel.
· Voted to move the jamboree to 10/28 ONLY so no overnight stays required for teams.
